New Year, New Me! *hair flip*

I can’t believe we’re already half way through January! Hopefully everyone’s 2016 is off to a great start! This month so far has been a bit challenging in our home. Ava is currently going through the dreaded 4 month sleep regression as well as her 4th developmental leap. (To learn more about developmental leaps, check out The Wonder Weeks. We have the app & it’s been such a help putting things into perspective during these “dark” times.)

I can say with confidence that this has been the hardest month of parenthood thus far. Between her fussing all day and partying all night, I may or may not have questioned my life choices on one or two occasions. Thankfully I have a great support system, and an insanely bright (and adorable) child to get me through the sleep deprivation.. Although my hair is significantly more grey than it was in September..
Parenting struggles aside, I really do love this time of year. Everyone is so motivated and blindly optimistic. A new year means a chance to look at life with a fresh perspective, and an opportunity to accomplish some new goals.. Or the same goals you set every year only to lose motivation sometime in early March.
For me, it’s so crazy to think that just one year ago I had absolutely no idea I was pregnant, or just how much my life was about to change. Needless to say, some of my 2015 aspirations went on an indefinite hiatus (start dancing/performing/auditioning again) while some were met beyond all expectations (have a healthy baby, save money, move into a bigger apartment). Now that we have a solid foundation, this year it’s all about growth. Personal growth: get back into pre-baby shape (but better), take the time to eat 3 healthy balanced meals a day, take some time for myself each day, blog more, be more forgiving of myself and others, be fully present and in the moment at all times.
Family growth: continue to be involved and nurturing parents, sit down each night for dinner as a family, plan one date night a week and stick to it, go on a family vacation.
Financial grown: continue saving money towards our future home, be more conscious of our spending habits.
2015 was such a whirlwind year for us, and I’m blown away by how time has seemingly continued to speed up ever since Ava was born. I can’t believe she is going to be 4 months old tomorrow! I totally understand now what parents mean when they say “they just grow up so fast“, and I’m suddenly not finding Beverly Goldberg so crazy…
As much as it breaks my heart to think that by this time next year my delicious little snuggle monster will be a walking, talking mini-human; I can’t wait to discover who that person is. I can’t wait to experience all the milestones along the way: the first time she crawls, the first time she reaches out for me, her first bite of food, her first step, her first word (Mama, of course) and all the other heart-melting firsts. Like today, when she had her very first swim lesson! (Just look how cute she is in her little swimsuit!)

Yes, I’m feeling great about the year ahead! I’m not exactly sure where it will take our family, but I’m really looking forward to finding out.
