Ipsy: March Glam Bag!

After hearing rave reviews from a few friends, I recently decided to sign up for a monthly subscription to Ipsy!

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription created by YouTuber Michelle Phan that brings great, customized products right to your door. For $10 ($20 CAD), subscribers receive a (really adorable) “Glam Bag” full of both deluxe samples AND full-sized beauty products. You also get access to tutorials on how to use everything in your bag, as well as discount codes should you wish to purchase a product you absolutely love!

Not bad, huh?

I was so excited to receive my first bag, I nearly squealed with excitement when I saw the little purple package in my mailbox.
First of all, how cute is the bag this month?

Now, for the products:

Evologie: Intensive Blemish Serum – 10 ml, Value $23

This is pretty close to full size! (The full-size version is 15 ml) I’m really glad it’s such a large size too, because after using the product as a spot treatment for just 3 days, I’ve started to see dramatic results. It’s light, smells great, and has left my skin with significantly less blemishes.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer in Neutral Medium, 3.25ml, Value $6

I’ve been dying to try this concealer for a while now so I was ecstatic when I saw it in my first bag! Now, I have the most absurd dark circles under my eyes that are nearly impossible to cover. That is, until now. I’m telling you this stuff works wonders! The tiniest bit goes such a long way (I’m talking a pin point). It blends well, stays put, provides excellent coverage, and yet washes off easily. Not the cheapest product in the world, but worth every penny, especially since you use so little per application.

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Baked Bronzer in Heat Wave – FULL SIZE, Value $16

Talk about versitility! This is a beautiful bronze-gold shimmer that is perfect for fair skin, or to be used as a golden highlighter. This is the perfect product for a more natural day look because it gives me just enough glow, without looking overdone. If you’re looking for a bit more drama, you can also apply it with a wet brush due to it’s baked texture.

OFRA Cosmetics Eyeliner in Green Go – FULL SIZE, Value $13

This product applies smoothly and easily on the eyes which is a trait to be desired in an eyeliner. The olive green colour is really pretty, however it just didn’t work for me or my skin tone. I’m more of a black eyeliner kind of girl.

ModelCo. Lip Lacquer in Socialite – 1.5ml, Value $12

I’m on the fence about this product. ModelCo’s website discribes it as “highly pigmented”, but in reality it’s more of a shiny clear gloss with a slightly reddish tint. I do like the consistency of the product. It feels smooth when applied and the formula is neither too thin or thick. It leaves the lips hydrated and wears off evenly which are also huge plusses. However, it’s slightly sticky. Mind you, not as sticky as some other glosses on the market, but sticky nonetheless. It also smells a lot like a cherry lollipop, which isn’t exactly my favourite but not necessarily a deal breaker. Overall, it’s not bad, but I wouldn’t spend the $24 for the full size.

Verdict: This bag has a $70 value, not counting the value of the makeup bag itself! Not bad for a $20 subscription. I’ll most likely use everything with the exception of the eyeliner. But overall, I’d say I’m pretty satisfied with my first bag. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for April!
